R.B.A.R.I. Shelter Tours
are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3:00 and 6:00 and are
arranged by appointment only.
Our tours are geared to children, girl scouts, boy scouts,
youth groups, etc. however we can tailor the tour to
an adult audience if needed. The tours last about one hour and
this includes a Question & Answer period
at the end. The group leader should contact Lourdes, our volunteer
coordinator, in advance to set up a date and time and to go over
the necessary paperwork. Spots fill up quickly during the school
year and is on a first-come first- serve basis. Since we are a
smaller shelter, we like to limit the size of our tours to about
15 people total. There is no charge for a tour however we encourage
groups to collect items for the animals, as we are a non-profit
shelter and rely on the generosity of the community to continue
our mission of care and education for our homeless animals.
Groups can access our wish
list on the web or a copy can be provided by the
volunteer coordinator.
Please contact Lourdes Bravo by email
(preferably) volunteer@rbari.org
or by phone at (201) 337-5180 (# 6 for the volunteer
coordinator when prompted)
Tour groups will visit the Dog and Cat Kennels and learn how the
shelter is run. We will discuss animal overpopulation, the importance
of spaying and neutering, the importance of good pet ownership,
how to approach an animal that you do not know, the reason some
of the animals find themselves at the shelter, the responsibility
involved with owning a pet, what the shelter needs to continue
to provide care, about our adoption process, and how the public
can help.
